Garrison Lions Club to hold a Grab & Go Supper, Saturday, March 20
A Grab and Go supper will be available with the Garrison Lions Club on Saturday, March 20th, from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Garrison Fire Station.For a freewill donation, the meal includes beef and noodles, a roll, green beans, and fruit. Rather than the silent auction this year there will be homemade dessert available for an extra donation!Donations will go toward supporting local scholarships, community events and organizations.
Annual Fire Department Fish Fry Friday, March 19
Friday, March 19, the Vinton Fire Department will hold its annual fish fry fundraiser Beginning at 4:00 p.m. and serving until 7:00 p.m. simply drive to the fire department, drop off your freewill donations, and grab supper. Trinity Lutheran Church invites you to supper at the church, located at 1002 E. 13th St. in Vinton on Wednesday, March 17 between 5-6:30 p.m.The church will be serving Reuben Sandwiches plus all the (Green!) salads and (Green!) desserts you can eat!To-Go boxes are available by calling 472-5571 to pre-order. Easter Escapade at Oak Grove Church
On March 31st, beginning at 6:30 p.m. there will be fun for the whole family at Oak Grove Church. Beginning at 6:00 p.m. there will be a check in time. The Escapade will begin at 6:30 p.m. and run until 7:30 p.m. the Celebration will be from 7:30-7:45 p.m.For many kids, Easter goes hand-in-hand with chocolate farm animals and plastic eggs. Vinton Today has received word that the Easter Bunny will arrive at the Kiwanis Park on W 13th St & Hwy 218, Vinton. The plan is that on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. there will be an Easter Egg Hunt with the help of the Kiwanis. Benton County Fair Scheduled for June 22
The 2021 Benton County Fair will be held June 22-27. Events are scheduled from 8:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. each day, Tuesday through Saturday and Sunday the 27th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The livestock aspect of the fair will begin as early as this month. The 4-H Swine Weigh-in will be held, Saturday, March 20 from 9-10:00 a.m. at the Fairgrounds.April 1, entry information for the Iowa State Fair will be available.
Blairstown Legion and Auxilary hosting meals on March 12th and 20th
The Blairstown Legion Hall will hold a Fish & Steak Supper on Friday, March 12th from 5 to 7:30 p.m. drive-up or delivered.The Blairstown Legion Auxillary will also be hosting an Authentic Mexican Supper prepared by Martin and Paty Delgado. There will also be margeritas. This event will be held on March 20, from 5-7:00 p.m.
Central Lutheran School hold Spring Fling
Central Lutheran School’s (CLS) Spring Fling will be taking place on Saturday, April 10th beginning at 4:00 p.m. The church is located at 310 3rd St. W. in Newhall. The event is held every two years. All money raised will benefit the school and programs. Due to the Derecho and damages to the school, this will be a particularly important Spring Fling fundraising effort.
